Super Bowl XLV: Key Matchups That Will Define the Outcome of the Super Bowl.

Football is a game of matchups and gameplans, where one big play within these matchups can be the difference in who wins and who loses.

There are some great matchups that will be on display on Sunday between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers.

Here is a rundown of the top matchups to look for:

Troy Polamalu vs. Aaron Rodgers: Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has clearly come into his own this season, with 28 touchdown passes to 11 interceptions. But he faces one of the top defensive players in the game on Super Bowl Sunday. Not only that, he struggled against a similar defense in the Chicago Bears in the NFC Championship Game, getting picked off twice. Rodgers is going to have to play an extremely smart game against the gameplan of the Steelers and the heady play of Polamalu, who won the Defensive Player of the Year award this season.

Ike Taylor vs. Greg Jennings: Steelers corner Ike Taylor is a top corner in the league, but he also isn’t the lockdown corner the Steelers expected he would become. Jennings has developed a nearly unstoppable chemistry with Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, with 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns in the regular season. On top of that, he netted 101 and 130 yards receiving against the Atlanta Falcons and Chicago Bears respectively in the playoffs. Taylor is going to have his hands full.

Clay Matthews vs. Steelers offensive line: It’s going to be interesting if the Steelers offensive line can contain Defensive Player of the Year candidate Clay Matthews. The explosive linebacker had 13.5 sacks in the regular season this year, as well as 3.5 sacks in the playoffs. With Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey possibly out due to injury, it may be a tough task for a line that has been beaten up this season.
