... border="0">Notre Dame junior tight end Kyle Rudolph was one of thirty-two players on the watch list for the John Mackey Award, given to the top collegiate tight end. Rudolph is the only returning semifinalist from 2009. He was the only sophomore on the list last season.

In 2009 Rudolph had 33 catches for 364 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games. Rudolph's career numbers are 62 receptions for 704 yards and five touchdowns.

The Mackey award was started in 2000, and is given to the collegiate tight end that  best exemplifies the play, academics, and community values of NFL  Hall of Fame tight end John Mackey, who some consider to be the best to have ever played the game.
