MSU defensive coordinator Carl Torbush has stressed to his players the need to stay on their man and not chase after the ball, or where one thinks the ball might be. Tech’s spread-option offense is big on deception and misdirection. Trying to follow the ball is what burned State last year when the Yellow Jackets had 438 rushing yards. Tech found a lot of wide open spaces in that meeting. The past two weeks, real estate has been scarce against MSU’s defense, which has yielded just 63 rushing yards since allowing 390 to Auburn on Sept. 12.
