And regardless of the feelings towards the University of Texas and the tremendous pull they have on this entire debacle, Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe should really be the one given the standing-ovation if the conference is saved.
Questions still remain regarding the Big 12 remaining intact.
But, at the very least, there’s now a sliver of hope—even in the media—that the conference could very well survive, with all 10 remaining members staying on board.
Is it a long shot? Yes.
That’s really beyond the point, though.
Within 24 hours ago (and stretching to as far back as last Thursday), people have declared the Big 12 dead.
