Is it just because it's football? Or are you like me and you love that every second matters? In college basketball, sure Duke and North Carolina are great, but can that really change how far a team gets in the tournament? No. Usually (except for this year) they would both be in the tournament even if the Blue Devils clobbered Roy Williams' Tar Heels. See, that's the difference between college football and basketball. Pittsburgh could go into West Virginia when both teams are undefeated. Winner plays in the championship; loser plays in the Polish Weedeater Bowl....
