Trying to coax in a new stream of fans and marketing dollars, Eastern Washington University is installing a new red turf in its 5,000 seat Woodward Field.

Perhaps inspired by the notoriety of the famous blue turf of Boise State's stadium, the school is hoping to increase its national exposure and bring in much needed revenue.

And they're trying to do it in a novel way.

As reported in the New York Times, as long as the field is regulation in size, the school will get no guff from the Big Sky Conference which claims EWU as a member. And why not?
