Rutgers Football: Eric LeGrand Released from Kessler; Set to Live with Aunt

Article By on 2nd April, 2011

Just under five months at the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange allowed Rutgers defensive lineman Eric LeGrand to get healthy enough to head home.

LeGrand, who was been rehabbing from a spinal injury at the clinic since November 8th, was released into the care of his aunt on Wednesday, March 30th.

Eric will live in his aunt’s Jackson household, as he continues to improve his injury, where he will continue to receive outpatient care three times a week.

Twice a week LeGrand will visit Kessler’s Ocean Township facility, while still making it back to the West Orange location once a week.

In a statement released by Rutgers, LeGrand had nothing but kind words for both the Kessler Institute and those who have supported him along the way.

“This is an exciting day for me to return to living with family…My family and I can’t thank Kessler enough for all of the tremendous care and support I received as I continue rehab from my injury. It has meant so much to me to receive so many well wishes and prayers from everyone.”

To show how far LeGrand’s story has touched New Jersey, Gold’s Gym in Totowa is having Celebrity Trainer Jay Cardiello come by to host a session of his famous “4×4 Cardio-Core Class” to raise money for the Eric LeGrand Believe Fund.

This session is set to take place at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, April 20th, with the $25 per participant fee going directly to the Believe Fund.

Thanks to NJ.com for the details regarding LeGrand’s release from Kessler and Gold’s Gym in Totowa for providing the details about their fundraiser.
