A.J. Green Will Be Gone Quick, but Where?

Article By on 23rd April, 2011

Georgia wide receiver A.J. Green seems like a lock to be selected within the top-seven picks.

Just this week, Green jumped up Mel Kiper and Todd McShay’s draft boards. He is now projected as the No. 4 overall pick to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Green is ranked as the No. 4 prospect by Scouts Inc., so being selected at No. 4 makes perfect sense. Though he’s been rumored to be a possible No. 1 pick, Kiper and McShay are skeptical in taking a receiver with the first pick.

Green was projected as high as No. 3 to the Buffalo Bills, but the Bills appear to be the likely destinations for Von Miller.

The Bengals are an interesting animal right now (no pun intended). Current quarterback Carson Palmer has requested a trade due to the team’s struggles. Therefore, the Bengals may look to draft the most NFL-ready quarterback on the board. Cam Newton or Blaine Gabbert would be the most viable options.

If Green eludes the Bengals, he may even slip past the Arizona Cardinals, who hold the No. 5 pick. Arizona seems destined to take a quarterback to compete for the starting job with Derek Anderson.

If Green is available at No. 6, expect the Cleveland Browns to seriously consider him. However, if the Browns opt to draft a defensive player like Robert Quinn or Nick Fairley, Green shouldn’t slip past the San Francisco 49ers.
