While some believe that the Seahawks need to address their quarterback needs by picking up a pass-thrower in the first round, they have more pressing needs in the trenches.

Here’s a fact, there was a heavy turnover in their offensive line last season because of the new Pete Carroll regime, injuries, and poor performance.   

Despite an improved showing near the end of the season, it’s clear the Seahawks’ seemingly annual search for a starting guard may finally end by picking Dan Watkins, who can easily slide in as a starter.

“He weighs 310 pounds and is considered one of the top two interior linemen available in this draft, someone the Seahawks are thought to be very high on,” writes Danny O’Neill of the Seattle Times.

As for quarterback, Christian Ponder or Ryan Mallet could still be there in the second round when their turn comes up, while a guard of Watkins’ caliber won’t.
