Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin Signs Two-Year Extension—Now What?

... signed head coach Mike Tomlin to a two-year extension that will keep him through at least the 2011-2012 season. The monetary terms are still undisclosed.

Many expected this deal to be executed, as the organizations' philosophy is to sign a coach before he enters his final year of a contract. Tomlin is only the Steelers' third head coach in the past 41 years, so they apparently also believe in the principle of continuity.

Tomlin, 38, has had tremendous success with the team so far. Since taking over in 2007, he has coached them to three consecutive winning seasons.
