The difference between a RFA (restricted free agent) and an UFA (unrestricted free agent), is the basis on which they are able to be signed.
Restricted free agents are able to be signed, but the signing team has to give the original team a draft pick, that is, unless the original team matches the contract. Unrestricted free agents can be signed without giving any compensation to the original team.
