Rex Ryan was said to be heavily involved in the recruiting efforts for Gilbert. Gilbert will be assigned to the Jets' practice squad. It will be a boost for the Jets' depth on the defensive line.

To go along with acquiring Gilbert, the Jets have finally agreed to deal with Darrelle Revis, after being in a stalemate for the past seven months. This will be an improvement for the Jets' already number one defense, after losing leading tackler Calvin Pace for six to eight weeks.
