These violations were deemed "major" and involved two former employees making "impermissible recruiting telephone calls and text messages".

UCF self-reported the violations, which consisted of 209 impermissible telephone calls and approximately 100 text messages to 27 prospective student-athletes and/or their parents during a period of almost 18 months in 2007.

The resulting penalties for the Knights football program include two years probation and recruiting restrictions, which were already completed prior to this year's signing day.
