1. QB Tom Savage showed glimpses of why Rutgers fans have reason to be optimistic.

At times he played the part of a true freshman (throwing into coverages, missing reads, and telegraphing passes). At others, he displayed his tremendous downfield arm strength and ability to make big, game-changing plays.

2. The defense played exceptionally well in the second half. They shut down a very explosive West Virginia offense and made big stop after big stop, especially on numerous third-and-short situations.

3. Most impressive to me were the halftime adjustments made by head coach Greg Schiano and the RU coaching staff and the resulting second half play of the defense.
