Both Colt McCoy and President Obama believe there should be a college football playoff to determine a national champion.  This issue has been debated for many years and nothing has been done to change the current BCS system.  The current system is based on polls combined with various computer formulas to determine the top two teams in the country, who then play each other in a bowl game.  

President Obama is determined to change that.  He said he will use his influence to create a playoff and more specifically an eight-team system.  He has spoken out numerous times on this issue. Last year before the November 4 election, Obama appeared on Monday Night Football to make his argument in favor of a playoff system.
