The conference's poor record versus the neighboring Mountain West Conference over the last few years has only helped to create an image of the Pac-10 as being the West Coast version of the ACC.
Of course, the decisions of the Pac-10 establishment have helped create this image as well by its adherence to the damaging nine-game conference season rule, a rule that all the Pac-10 coaches have repeatedly asked to be removed.
