No Cash Cam: Why Auburn and The Newton’s May Be Innocent

... almost everyone who follows college football is aware by now, that the NCAA is, and has been, investigating whether or not Auburn was involved in the "pay for play" bidding that was alleged to have taken place for Cam Newton services.

Former Mississippi State quarterback John Bond said that a teammate of Bond's at Mississippi State named Kenny Rogers contacted him soon after Newton's official visit to Mississippi State during the Ole Miss game in December, and said he was representing Newton. "He said it would take some cash to get Cam," Bond said. "I called our athletic director, Greg Byrne, and he took it from there. That was pretty much it."
