... State went into September 11 with a sense of accomplishment following their last game against Western Michigan. The Spartans started the 2010 season by running all over the Broncos, chasing them out of East Lansing with a 38-14 win.

This Saturday, the Spartans took the short drive to Detroit to take on the Florida Atlantic Owls at Ford Field. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Boca Raton, Florida. But the Florida Atlantic stadium construction is behind schedule and won't be completed until next season.

Many of the Spartans have their roots in and around the Detroit area. Playing downtown allowed their families see them play instead of driving to East Lansing.
