Insult to Injury: Colt McCoy No Longer Texas Longhorns’ Top QB

... granted. Those words ring true this morning for Colt McCoy, the former number one quarterback for the Texas Longhorns.

McCoy's career came to a sudden end Thursday night on the team's fifth offensive snap when he kept the ball on a QB option. If McCoy knew the option he chose meant "career over," he might have handed the ball off to his running back. Instead, McCoy slammed into Alabama defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, pinching a nerve in his shoulder and effectively ending his football career.

All it takes is an injury, just one, and your life can change. With the BCS National Championship on the line, all McCoy could do was sit back and watch as true freshman Garrett Gilbert stepped in and narrowly won the game and almost assuredly ...
