... the ubiquitous mascot. In the late 1980s, Michigan State reintroduced "Sparty," featuring a foam-rubber costume that allowed the wearer much greater freedom of movement. Since that fateful football season, the great college football mascots of today sprung up from coast to coast. Few university icons garner as much spirit and pride as the mascot. Always present to cheer their teams to victory, our beloved mascots rally the school to victory...sometimes. Unfortunately, a world-class mascot doesn't necessarily translate to a world-class performance on the field. From time to time, the teams don't live up to their fans'—or mascot's—hopes and dreams. In that spirit, here are the Ten Most Disappointed Mascots.
