It's not the wins that have stayed with me all these years. Rather, the curse of the losses, so deeply embedded, that have scarred such a simple fan.
But a kicker!
A kicker is the one I remember. Not some Heisman Trophy winner or some other more worthy adversary.
A kicker.
Two kicks, one good, one bad, and then a boot of my own. I'm by no means a man given to smash-mouth action, but on this day, a door was kicked off its hinges.
Why? Why did I have to fall so hard for this stuff? I wasn't bothering anyone. Minding my own business, I was just looking for something to pass the time.
