As a result, the position has evolved in College Football, especially over the last decade or so. The small, yet speedy running backs, have thrived in Urban Meyer's offense at Florida. The big bruisers like Mark Ingram at Alabama are still winning the Heisman. No matter how you slice it, the running game is the key to a balanced attack on offense and the teams that do not employ a capable running back (or backs) are destined to do nothing more than spin their wheels.
