That question has Boise State Bronco fans very nervous, maybe for all the right reasons.

Chris Petersen, BSU's dynamic and innovative head coach, would have to be at the top of USC's list for Carroll's replacement.

Petersen has lead Boise State to a 49-4 record in four years as the head man at BSU.

Included in that record are two BCS bowl victories, with wins over Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl and TCU in the 2010 Fiesta Bowl.

Two of his four years, Petersen's Bronco teams have ended up in the top five in the final college football polls.
