1947-1991 The FBS Bowl System Without The $$$$$

... Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) has been bowling since the 1902 Rose Bowl, which hosted Michigan and Stanford. The Wolverines whipped the Cardinals, and thus the game concluded after the third period—Stanford was being pummeled 49-0.

 

The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) has spawned a one game playoff, and thus has resulted in angry players, coaches, fans, and sports writers howling for a playoff. However, the suits and ties of the major conferences are the parties controlling the system, not the NCAA nor the Athletic directors. They do not plan to voluntarily move to a playoff in the near future.
